The Simplest Way To Keep Blood Pressure Low…

High blood pressure is a common disease in which blood flows through blood vessels (arteries) at higher than normal pressures. If you have a blood pressure reading that’s something like 140 over 90, or even higher, it’s most likely that you suffer from high blood pressure. Also, if just one of the numbers is higher than it’s supossed to be.

When you have high blood pressure, the higher pressure makes your heart and blood vessels work even harder. When this happens for a long period of time, the extra work increases your risks of a stroke or even a heart attack. High blood pressure can produce kidney and heart diseases, and it’s also closely connected to some forms of dementia. High blood pressure or hypertension can be produced by¹:
● Eating too much salt;
● Not eating enough fruit and vegetables;
● Not being active enough;
● Overweight
● Drinking too much alcohol.

There are medical treatments to deal with this illness, but the natural way will always be the best, so, besides changing your lifestyle and improving your eating habits, you can also include beetroot to your diet.
Beetroot was used since Roman’s time to treat diseases like constipation, fever, skin problems and even as an aphrodisiac.

Researchers have been aware for a long time that drinking beetroot juice can help getting blood pressure levels down. This happens because beetroot contains nitrate, this is the magical ingredient in beetroot that helps with blood pressure and can even help fighting heart disease.

In a study perform by an university in London², healthy participants were asked to drink a glass of beetroot juice while other participants were drinking a placebo juice. The other part of the participants were consuming nitrate tablets. Reasearches found that the levels of blood pressure decreased in the first 24 hours in people who were taking nitrate tablets and in the ones that those were drinking beetroot juice.

The researchers realized that not everybody was crazy about drinking beetroot juice. But, later on people in the study, people got over the flavor when they were drinking it every day.

Beetroot works by being absorb into your blood and then secreted into your saliva. That way the bacteria in the back of your tongue metabolizes the nitrates and turns it into nitric oxide.

The best way of eating beetroot is raw, but if this is too “natural” for you, then you can try making a juice with it or using it in your salads.
